Wednesday Mar 21, 2018.
No less than 12 African teams will be involved in midweek international friendlies today and tomorrow, including South Africa, Burkina Faso and Algeria.
Wednesday’s only game featuring African teams sees Madagascar take on Togo in Paris, with the Sparrow Hawks using the game as a warm-up for their high-profile clash with Ivory Coast – who will have Yaya Toure back in the fold – in Beauvais on Saturday.
Thursday features two clashes in a Southern African Four Nations Tournament which will both be held in Ndola, Zambia: the hosts take on Zimbabwe in the early afternoon, before South Africa and Angola renew hostilities.
Mauritius and Gabon will both be in action in the Far East, as they take on Macau and Thailand respectively, while Guinea-Bissau will take on Burkina Faso in Paris, with both teams turning their attention to building up for the resumption of 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers later in the year.
Finally, North African heavyweights Algeria will hope to continue their rebirth under new coach Rabah Madjer – who has controversially declined to give any pre-match interviews or press conferences – when they host Tanzania in Algiers.
